Walter B.J. Schuyler, M.D.
Walter B.J. Schuyler, M.D. began treating patients at Maine Eye Center in 1995 after thirteen years of solo practice in Portland, Maine. Since 1982 Dr. Schuyler has provided comprehensive ophthalmology care, oculoplastic care and specializes in the treatment of cataract and medical glaucoma.
Dr. Schuyler received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico. He served as a Harvard Medical School Clinical Fellow in Medicine and completed his medical-surgical internship in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Following internship Dr. Schuyler entered emergency medicine and was elected to the American College of Emergency Physicians. He completed his Geisinger Medical Center residency in ophthalmology in 1981. He was selected as the first oculoplastic fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1982. Oculoplastic surgery is the cosmetic, corrective, and reconstructive surgery of the tissues surrounding the eye.
Dr. Walter Schuyler is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He served as chairman of the Parkview Hospital Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Schuyler teaches medical students and residents as a clinical professor for the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
