After taking this test you will be contacted by Maine Eye Center if you meet the pre-requisite requirements. Richard A. Bazarian, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Richard A. Bazarian, M.D., F.A.C.S.As a fellowship trained vitreo-retinal surgeon Dr. Bazarian takes care of people with macular diseases, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, and severe eye injuries. He has performed over 2,500 vitreo-retinal surgeries, and over 10,000 office based injection and laser procedures since completing his residency and fellowship training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York.

Dr. Bazarian graduated from Princeton University in 1982 with honors from the Department of Art & Archaeology. After graduating from New York Medical College, he spent 4 years training and working in general surgery before concentrating on the eye. He was awarded the first David Warfield Eye Research Fellowship offered by the New York Academy of Medicine.

Before coming to Maine Eye Center in 1995, Dr. Bazarian was on the full time faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His practice philosophy is still based on teaching with a goal of helping each patient understand his/her condition. He is active as an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, regularly hosting medical students and residents at Maine Eye Center.

Dr. Bazarian served as Maine Eye Center’s President from 2001 until 2006 and has been Maine Medical Center’s Chief of Ophthalmology since 2002. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Bazarian is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
