If you are seeking LASIK in Portland, Maine we are happy to help you learn about LASIK and your candidacy potential for this eye surgery. Please feel free to take our short LASIK self-evaluation test to get on the path to better vision. After taking this test you will be contacted by Maine Eye Center if you meet the pre-requisite requirements. All LASIK candidates will be required to undergo a pre-operative eye exam before candidacy is approved.

Rachel M. Sugal, O.D.
Dr. Rachel Sugal, a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, relocated to Maine from her home state of Massachusetts in the summer of 2010 to join Riverside Eye Center. Dr. Sugal joined Maine Eye Center in 2012. While at Salus University, she was admitted to the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.
Prior to obtaining her O.D., Dr. Sugal attended the University of Massachusetts where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Dr. Sugal also studied abroad at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland while pursuing her undergraduate degree.
During the course of her education, Dr. Sugal completed clinical externships in West Chester, PA, the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Browning, MT, in Fairfield, CT, and in Providence, RI.
Dr. Sugal also received advanced training in Pediatric Eye Care at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA, specializing in vision therapy, infant, binocular vision, perceptual, and ocular motor examinations.
Dr. Sugal enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, kayaking, running, skiing, and playing tennis. She is an avid fan of visiting National Parks and is always looking for her next adventure.
