Margaret C. Pollard, MD  is a fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in the medical and surgical management of corneal and ocular surface diseases, as well as cataract and refractive surgery. She joined Maine Eye in August 2020.

Dr. Pollard treats patients with disorders of the cornea, including keratoconus, Fuchs corneal dystrophy, corneal ulcers, dry eye and other diseases of the ocular surface. She performs a wide range of surgical procedures, including full-thickness corneal transplantation, lamellar and partial thickness corneal transplantation, and cataract surgery. She also is certified in performing both laser refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK), and implantable Collamer lens (ICL) refractive surgery. 

Dr. Pollard graduated magna cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  

She received her medical degree from Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center, where she also served as chief resident. She completed her fellowship in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. 

Dr. Pollard is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Cornea Society, and Women in Ophthalmology. Dr. Pollard has published and is actively involved in publications in peer-reviewed literature and textbooks on topics including neurotrophic keratopathy, corneal crosslinking, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, and implementation of rural vision screening programs.
