Sara Bozorg, M.D.
Dr. Sara Bozorg is a fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of corneal and external diseases of the eye. She performs a range of surgical procedures including complex cataract surgery, pupilloplasty, sutured intraocular lenses, corneal transplantation, treating surgical and medical diseases of the cornea as well as ocular surface tumors. Dr. Bozorg is certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Bozorg is a graduate of Amherst College where she majored in French Literature and was a standout member of the basketball team, being named as a NESCAC All-Academic in her sophomore year. She attended medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine where she helped start a weekly eye clinic for the uninsured and graduated as an MD with Distinction in Community Service. During her time there she also received the Human Values in Health Care Student Award for Creative Excellence. She completed her residency training in ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego where she was selected by the faculty as chief resident. She then went on to complete a two-year fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Bozorg has published in several peer-reviewed articles and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Women In Ophthalmology and the Cornea Society.

In her free time, Dr. Bozorg enjoys gardening and owned a small flower farm: Salt and Sand Flowers. She has competed in many marathons as well as 50 km and 50-mile trail races. She has recently moved to Cumberland, Maine with her two children and husband Andrew Hanson who is the author of “Five Seven Five Sports: 2012 in Haiku – Language of the Games”.
